Maps of tree species and aboveground biomass, estimated for each individual tree crown, obtained by combining information from remote sensing data (satellite multispectral data and airborne lidar data) and field data.
Species were classified using a Supervised Vector Machines classifier (SVM) using in input monthly composites of Sentinel-2 satellite images for the months from May to September 2019.
Field data were extracted from pure species parcels of the forest plans regarding main species, and aggregations of species. In total 9 species/groups of species were considered.
AGB was predicted with Lidar data to delineate Individual Tree Crowns (ITCs) using a state-of-the-art method developed by Fondazione Edmund Mach and implemented in the R library itcSegment.
Lidar data have been acquired over the Paneveggio Natural Park in 2015 by the Autonomous Province of Trento.

- Forest Monitoring Paneveggio Park DashboardDescrizione: The dashboard show the ITC (Individual tree crown) maps. Each polygon represents an individual tree crown with the following information: X, Y: position of the tree in EPSG:25832 - ETRS89 / UTM zone 32N Height_m: plant's height in meters CA_m2: crown area in m2 DBH_cm: estimated trunk diameter in cm AGB_kg: estimated biomass in kg SP_SP: species predicted with Sentinel2
- Allometric equations for integrating remote sensing imagery into forest monitoring programmesDescrizione: The diameter and AGB was predicted for each ITC using the equations for diameters and biomass estimation described in the research article “Allometric equations for integrating remote sensing imagery into forest monitoring programmes” (Jucker et al. 2017, GCB)
